What is a maternity photoshoot?
A maternity shoot is a photoshoot that happens when a person is pregnant and wants some images to remember this incredible stage of their life.
Who is a maternity shoot for?
Maternity shoots are for pregnant individuals and their bumps!
A maternity shoot is done in which month?
In most cases, this is sometime in your 7th or 8th month of pregnancy or between 28-34 weeks. The start of your third trimester is the perfect time for a maternity photoshoot: during this time, you will have a fairly sizeable bump that can be captured with beautiful photos.
Can I do a maternity shoot at home?
Absolutely! There are so many options for maternity photoshoots and pregnancy photoshoots, but at home is my absolute favourite.
All my shoots take place in the comfort of your house, which is great if you want to have a maternity shoot with pets or a maternity shoot with partner.
Other location ideas are in nature or a studio.
When I was little, I loved looking at the photos my dad took of my pregnant mum: I was so curious about where I came from and it was so exciting when my mother got pregnant with my little brother! I still remember how those maternity photos looked and how they played a big part in my wanting to be a mother one day.
Is it worth it to find a local photographer?
Well - it depends on what you want to achieve. If you are looking at having your pregnancy shoot in a studio, you will want to find a local maternity photographer.
However, if you want a home photoshoot, then you can be more flexible as many intimate pregnancy photographers will travel - like me! I am a Cambridgeshire-based photographer but I travel to my clients' homes so they don't have to stress about location.
